01Who we are

Veritas Engineering and Project Management Consultants (Pty) Ltd is an independent South African engineering and project management consultancy based in Sandton, Johannesburg. For the purposes of POPIA, we are the Responsible Party that determines why and how your personal information is processed in connection with this website.

Our registered Information Officer oversees our compliance with POPIA. You can reach the Information Officer using the details in section 15.

02Scope of this policy

This policy applies to personal information we collect when you visit veritas-engineering.com or contact us through the telephone, email and enquiry links published on it. It does not cover the separate agreements, proposals or engagement terms under which we deliver professional services to our clients — those arrangements are governed by their own contracts and privacy terms.

06Cookies and website analytics

We do not use cookies, web beacons, pixels or third-party analytics tools on this website, so there is no tracking to consent to or opt out of. The site’s appearance may adapt to your device’s light or dark mode preference, but this is read from your browser and is not stored or transmitted.

If we introduce analytics or a web-based contact form in future, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.

07When we share your information

We treat your personal information as confidential and share it only where necessary and lawful. We may disclose it to:

• Operators (service providers) that process information on our behalf under written agreement — for example, our website hosting and email providers — who are required to protect it and use it only as instructed;
• professional advisers such as our legal, financial or insurance advisers, where reasonably required; and

Where we are part of the wider Veritas Group, information may be shared internally only where relevant to your enquiry and subject to the same protections. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

These include serving the website over encrypted HTTPS connections, restricting access to information on a need-to-know basis, and using reputable, security-conscious hosting and email providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly if a security compromise occurs.

10How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to respond to your enquiry, to maintain our business records, and to satisfy any legal, regulatory, tax, accounting or professional retention requirements. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify it.

Subject to the conditions and exceptions in POPIA, you have the right to:

• request that we correct or delete personal information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading or unlawfully obtained;
• object, on reasonable grounds, to the processing of your personal information;
• withdraw a consent you have given, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal;
• not be subject to direct marketing by electronic means without your consent; and
• lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (see section 15).

12Children’s privacy

This website is intended for a professional, business audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect the personal information of children (persons under 18) without the consent of a competent person. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, please contact us and we will delete it.

13Links to other websites

Our website may contain links to external sites — for example, a mapping service or, in future, our social-media profiles. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit through a link from ours.

14Changes to this policy
